A draw which puts pressure on Italy and Netherlands while Romanian side seems to be very pleased with this result. After all, its a draw against the vice world champions.
After the game coach Victor Piturca said: “It was a physically demanding game, and I’m satisfied with the result. Of course we would also have taken the three points – France are maybe not as strong as they once were. Nothing happened to Adrian Mutu [who was substituted in the second half] – he couldn’t play for all of the preparation period, so it was important that he got 75 minutes here. In the next match, I’m sure you’ll see the real Mutu. I was worried because our players picked up bookings too easily in the first half, but the boys understood my message at half-time and we managed not to get another yellow card. [...] The important thing is that we prepare well for our match against Italy – we don’t want to lose that game”
Raymond Domenech, France coach, was expecting a difficult game:

This time, however, it was Lukas Podolski, a Poland-born football player that broke his native country’s heart with two remarkable goals. This way, Germany won EURO 2008’s Group B’s first game, while Poland was left alone with their darkest thoughts ever! Will they be better than Croatia?

The International Broadcast Centre, simply known as IBC, was officially opened in Vienna on 3 June.
The opening of this center marks an important step in the history of football broadcasting, as UEFA will produce the television signal for EURO 2008 for the first time in the history of this popular tournament. UEFA will be able to do this through UEFA Media Technologies SA, its 100% owned subsidiary.
With the occasion of the official opening of the International Broadcast Centre in Vienna, Michel Platini, UEFA President, switched on the TV video feeds from all the Austrian and Swiss venues in the Centre’s Master Control Room, which represents “the hub” of all video and audio signals coming and going through fibre and satellite from venues and other important sites.

Another squad has to deal with problems! This time it’s Spain’s national football team, which’s preparations have been disrupted by three strikers’ getting injured during their last training session ahead of their final warm-up match the United States in Santander on 4 June.
David Villa, Fernando Torres and Sergio Garcia have all picked up injuries that might force them to stay away from the field for EURO 2008. David Villa has to undergo further test after he sustained a blow to his right thigh. Sergio Garcia was hit to his ankle, while Fernando Torres is having problems to an ankle too.
Spain’s coach is probably thinking of solutions right now!
