Bruno Alves and Bosingwa Wait for Coach’s Decision
Thursday, June 5th, 2008Bruno Alves and Bosingwa are currently waiting for coach Luiz Felipe Scolari’s decision regarding the starting lineup for EURO 2008. The two defenders have obviously high hopes to be called by Scolari in Portugal’s starting lineup for the match against Turkey in Saturday’s Group A opener in Geneva.
Alves is confident in his coach’s experience saying about Scolari that “It’s the coach who chooses who’s best. And once he has chosen, I think it will be fine.” However, defender Bruno Alves also promised that he will try “as hard as possible to make sure” he gets a chance.
On the other hand Bosingwa can feel a little bit more secure as Miguel is still recovering. However, he seems not to take anything for granted, as Portugal’s squad is “packed” with high-profile football stars. “We have two players for every position,” said Bosingwa, who also added: “I have worked hard for this, but whether I am chosen or not, I won’t know until Saturday. I want to be picked, of course. I am an ambitious player and am here to play, just like the other 22 players in the squad.”
