A draw which puts pressure on Italy and Netherlands while Romanian side seems to be very pleased with this result. After all, its a draw against the vice world champions.
After the game coach Victor Piturca said: “It was a physically demanding game, and I’m satisfied with the result. Of course we would also have taken the three points – France are maybe not as strong as they once were. Nothing happened to Adrian Mutu [who was substituted in the second half] – he couldn’t play for all of the preparation period, so it was important that he got 75 minutes here. In the next match, I’m sure you’ll see the real Mutu. I was worried because our players picked up bookings too easily in the first half, but the boys understood my message at half-time and we managed not to get another yellow card. [...] The important thing is that we prepare well for our match against Italy – we don’t want to lose that game”
Raymond Domenech, France coach, was expecting a difficult game:

Raymond Domenech, France’s national football team’s coach, made public the provisional list of 30 players for UEFA EURO 2008 during a press conference at the French Football Federation headquarters in Paris. Surprisingly or not, Juventus’ striker David Trezeguet was not chosen by coach Domenech to be part of this provisional 30-man squad.
Another surprise, this time a positive one, was the inclusion of AS Saint-Etienne’s striker Bafetimbi Gomis in France’s national football team. Gomis was selected for the first time in the national team, as he impressed coach Domenech after a promising season that included no less than 16 league goals.

Although he knows how a player could feel to be dropped from the squad for EUFA EURO 2008, coach Raymond Domenech said that French football was more important that feelings in this case. “I know it’s not an easy position for a player, but the interests of French football must come first,” said Domenech, who has the tough duty to decide who will be part of the French squad for UEFA EURO 2008.
The coach is concerned about that fact that as many as 18 players of the squad will still be in action after 18 May, the deadline Domenech had given a few time ago. Thus, there will be a major threat of injuries and Raymond Domenech can’t take any chances.
“After 18 May there are still major games to be played such as the UEFA Champions League, Italian Cup and French Cup finals,” Domenech said in a statement. “There is a big risk that some of the players I call up could get injured, so it will be an extended list given many players are involved in these matches,” he also added.
