A draw which puts pressure on Italy and Netherlands while Romanian side seems to be very pleased with this result. After all, its a draw against the vice world champions.
After the game coach Victor Piturca said: “It was a physically demanding game, and I’m satisfied with the result. Of course we would also have taken the three points – France are maybe not as strong as they once were. Nothing happened to Adrian Mutu [who was substituted in the second half] – he couldn’t play for all of the preparation period, so it was important that he got 75 minutes here. In the next match, I’m sure you’ll see the real Mutu. I was worried because our players picked up bookings too easily in the first half, but the boys understood my message at half-time and we managed not to get another yellow card. [...] The important thing is that we prepare well for our match against Italy – we don’t want to lose that game”
Raymond Domenech, France coach, was expecting a difficult game:

Romania - France 0-0 Highlights
Very tacticized game and probably the ugliest so far in the tournament.

After an eight-year wait, the Romanian football player is ready to lead his country’s football team into their EURO 2008 campaign. Romania last graced the finals of a major tournament in 2000, when they reached the knockout stage of EURO 2000 before Italy ended their involvement with a 2-0 win. Ironically or not, Romania will face Italy again, but not only! Group C features two other tough football teams: the Netherlands’ team and France’s team.
But despite all this toughness, and thanks to his inside knowledge of Italian football, as a FC Internazionale Milano and former AS Roma player, Cristian Chivu is confident and optimistic.

Romania will face powerful teams at EURO 2008, as Group C is one of the toughest groups, featuring the Netherlands, France and Italy. Romania needs as much energy as they can get, so the fact that defender Dorin Goian has been passed fit to play in EURO 2008 is very good news for this country’s national football team and their fans.
FC Steaua Bucuresti’s center-back player suffered tendon damage to his right heel during a friendly against Montenegro and it was thought that he might not be able to play at EURO 2008 because of this damage.

Laurentiu Rosu and George Ogararu will represent two of the most important Romanian football players that will miss at EURO 2008, as they absented from Romania’s 26-man provisional squad that has already begun preparations for the tournament.
Laurentiu Rosu won’t play at EURO 2008 because in the recent period of time he dropped out of first-team reckoning at his club, AFC Ajax, while George Ogararu won’t play because he failed to recover after his return from an injury. Thus, Rosu and Ogararu will be replaced by younger players, such as Cosmin Moti, Cristian Sapunaru, Ciprian Deac.
14 players of Romania’s national football squad play club football in Romania, so they have already started to gather as a team for EURO 2008. Florentin Petre and Paul Codrea have also joined them in an informal camp in Turkey, where the players came with their families for training and relaxation.
Coach Victor Piturca will start the preparations on 22 May, when the full 26-man squad will meet at the Mogosoaia training center. By 28 May the squad will be cut down to 23 players.
Romania will face France in Zurich on 9 June and then Italy on 13 June. Four days later they will play against Netherlands.
