Thierry Henry, the Sixth France Player to Win 100 Caps

France’s popular football player Thierry Henry has become his country’s sixth player to win 100 caps after he was named in the starting lineup for Tuesday’s friendly against Colombia.
FC Barcelona’s player seemed to be modest enough regarding this matter. “It’s not that important. It’s just a detail in our preparations for EURO,” the 30-year-old player said in a statement.
Thierry Henry will join Lilian Thuram, Marcel Desailly, Zinedine Zidane, Patrick Vieira and Didier Deschamps in an elite band of “centurions” that have high hopes for UEFA EURO 2008’s title.
Henry made his debut in a friendly against South Africa 11 years ago and he was to register the first of his 44 goals as France’s national football team player against the same opponents only eight months later during the FIFA World Cup. Although he started both his club and international career on the wing, Thierry Henry excelled as a center-forward for the first time at EURO 2000. He scored for three times during this tournament and France won the European title that year.
After appearing in his third UEFA European Championship in Portugal four years ago and in two more World Cups, Henry scored twice against Lithuania on 17 October 2007 and thus became the most prolific player in his country’s history. He overtook Michel Platini’s mark of 41 goals.
Now, the 30-year-old player seems ready to invest the same energy as in the past to help France win the title in Vienna.
